My children learnt at a young age the words “I’m bored” were swearwords in our household. The first and last time they used those words I offered housework as a cure to their boredom. They quickly found something to do and never said that around me again. In a blink of an eye they learnt to entertain themselves…and got out of the housework that time.

For me, what’s worse is an adult saying “I’m bored”. Really? Besides being insulting to the people with them, it’s totally ridiculous that someone can’t find a way to entertain themselves or expects someone else to.

Sure, I get “restless” sometimes, but bored? Never! Travel, sports, entertaining, reading, painting, cooking, baking, woodwork, knitting, sewing, crocheting, and playing games barely scratch the surface of things you can do. Have a cell phone, tablet or computer? You’ve got a digital playground.
entertaining
In this section I’ll share my entertaining tips such as entertaining from five to 85 years old at the same event. Between my husband and I we’ve had four different types of weddings so we have lots of tips in that domain.
relaxing
Leisure is something different for everyone. While I love reading a good book on the beach or by the pool my husband would rather be playing beach volleyball.
travel
I love flying and traveling to different places, especially Europe. The Caribbean wasn’t somewhere I’d ever wanted to go because of my love for Europe’s history, but my husband, then boyfriend, bought me a trip for my 50th birthday. That was almost seven years ago now and I’ve been there on four cruises, a land tour of Costa Rica beginning in the Caribbean, and four all-inclusive holidays. My bucket list is over-flowing and I’m excited to share my experiences with you.
leisure is a perspective
Everyone see leisure in a different way. This section explores leisure and the various opportunities to try different things…including dating. Did I mention my husband and I met online? I put that under leisure since I was just out having fun dating and wasn’t really expecting or looking for a serious relationship.
With hobbies, the sky is the limit and so is your pocketbook. Hobbies can be expensive and extravagant, like making jewellery, but they don’t have to be. There are many places, clubs, and groups to join that have little or no cost, like the library. Although gardening and home renovations have been my biggest hobbies you will find most of my information on those in the home and garden section.
Inevitably, I’m my father’s daughter, a “jack of all trades and master of none”. What this means is I’ll share what I’ve done and what I’m up to, I still have so much to explore. You will find there will be some crossover into other parts of my blog but I hope to hear from you on my social media about what you’ve done and what worked for you.
