From when I was 11 years old and began babysitting I’ve always had my own money. I may not have been into Madonna when I was young but I was definitely a material girl. Every week was a shopping spree; I added to my vinyl collection, my wardrobe, and often a matching accessory or piece of jewellery. Home “things” were added to my shopping list when I officially moved out on my own.
This all changed in my mid 20’s when I was a volunteer for an environmental group working on their editorial team. As much as I wanted to fit in, I didn’t, I was conditioned to be a consumer and left after about nine months. That experience still impacts my life which I go into in giving back, but, in a nutshell, it curbed my shopping habit.
Why would I be sharing this story in a section promoting products and services? In middleagedteen you will find only things that truly worked for me and have brought me happiness, saved time, and are useful. You won’t find things like art, jewelry, and home décor unless it serves for something more than to just look at.

>paddleboards are a fun way to enjoy our small lake since there aren’t boats creating big waves. It’s also another activity we enjoy after golf to cool down. I bought the Freein SUP Inflatable Stand Up Paddleboard with Kayak Seat. This set is inflatable and comes in a large backpack with everything you need to enjoy this sport. It doubles as a kayak with an attachable seat but it’s not a real kayak. I use it just as a paddleboard but the option is there.
Every year I blow it up at the beginning of the season and have never had to add more air over the six months we use it. Expect a work-out getting it blown up. We always keep it inside, other than being used and drying outside it doesn’t get exposed to much more than a hot trailer. We deflate it and bring it home in the winter so it’s not exposed to our cold winter preventing cracks. I’ve had this since 2019 and haven’t had a hole. It’s good and strong but still lightweight making it easy to carry five minutes to the beach.
>Washers Toss Game: this is an easy fun outdoor game. It’s our favourite while relaxing after golf but is fun for the whole family. We have several of these games for when there’s lots of guests. My favourite set is made of wood with metal washers that double as bottle openers. We also have a plastic set which is lightweight for children to play alongside.

Solar is my preferred lighting – it saves money and is hassle free as no plugs needed. We use it for everything outdoors: floodlights, motion-sensored lights, path lights, and my favourite, our fan/light combo for the addition.
>fan/light solar combination is a great way to cool off a room and add light without having to tap into your home’s wiring. We originally bought ours for the gazebo but with all the solar string lights we have we moved the solar fan/light to our addition. There are manual buttons to activate the light and/or fan but ours came with a remote. Be sure your choice of product comes with a remote otherwise you’ll be climbing to press the buttons. Our fan is quiet and the light serves the purpose, but I wouldn’t use it for reading – it’s not bright enough.
Whether you have a trailer, cottage, or home, I’ve found you can never have enough outdoor storage. We have several outdoor storage units. I like the vertical storage since it takes up less of a footprint and you can stand tall items in it. Our horizontal storage unit fits all our outdoor camp chairs and at home we have a unit at our condo for storage.
These have all proven waterproof but if you overstuff them they will bulge which can allow water in. Every few years we have to reset our vertical storage since we stuff that with our firewood which is quite heavy against the walls.

Quality: all the Yardistry products we’ve installed are sturdy right down to every screw and bolt. The cedar is beautiful. It’s been since 2019 and everything is still great quality. The cedar structures even weathered nicely, but we’ve added our own touch by painting everything to match our trailer deck-addition.
Delivery: all products were packaged really well without any damage and arrived as expected. There was nothing missing.
Instructions: the detailed instructions are easy to follow with lots of diagrams. For faster and easier construction go through, count, and organize all the pieces first making sure nothing is missing.
Customer Service: our only service need was we made a few scratches when putting the gazebo together and asked for touch-up paint. That was sent without any question or cost to us.

>Yardistry 12’ x 12’ Meridian Gazebo
The Yardistry 12’ x 12’ Meridian Gazebo is beautifully designed and made from cedar. Don’t expect to complete this on your own though, it’s a minimum three person job. Be sure to have a solid, level base – we laid it on patio stones. There are many additional add-ons you can buy for the gazebo like the Yardistry 12’ x 12’ Meridian Mosquito Mesh Kit, Yardistry 12” Wood Gazebo Privacy Walls, and, although we don’t have experience with this, you can even buy the Yardistry Gazebo Cedar Bar Counter. Of course, adding solar lights, a patio table and chairs, and solar light/fan combo are great finishing touches.
>Yardistry 12’ x 12’ Meridian Mosquito Mesh Kit
There’s nothing worse than trying to enjoy your dinner outside and being attacked by bugs. The Yardistry 12’ x 12’ Meridian Mosquito Mesh Kit (or size to match your structure) is the answer. The kit came with everything you need to put up the screens in no time if you have another person to help. The gazebo is built with this purchase in mind and have all the necessary wood blocks in place for the mesh kit. We have noticed some moth holes but have had this since 2019 and it still serves the purpose.
>Yardistry 12” Wood Gazebo Privacy Walls
The Yardistry 12” Wood Gazebo Privacy Walls are another two person job. They are shipped in multiple sections that you need to put together. One word of caution! Avoid putting the walls up so they catch the wind. We take the walls down in the winter since our first experience is the wind caught the walls and flipped the gazebo. Likely this isn’t a problem if your gazebo sits on a concrete slab but our’s is grounded to 2′ x 2′ by patio stones that weren’t heavy enough. Of note, we haven’t had any problems since doing this.
>Yardistry Fusion Planter Cedar Privacy Screens
The Yardistry Fusion Planter Cedar Privacy Screen is as beautiful as it is functional, adding privacy along with container gardening. You just need enough weight to keep it standing if you’re in a windy area, or what we did, put a rail behind to hold the back up. This was the only piece we had a minor defect on. One of the slats was installed crooked but that’s on us for not returning it.
>Yardistry Meridian Grilling Pavillion
Camping isn’t camping if you don’t have a barbecue. The Yardistry Meridian Grilling Pavillion is a great hang-out for cooking in good weather and bad. Although you don’t need as many people as putting up the Yardistry 12’ x 12’ Meridian Gazebo this is a minimum two person job. We put rocks around all the edges but that’s going to get changed to make better use of the bars on either side of the pavillion. We even put solar lights up since you never know when the craving will hit.
